West Coast rapper Game is reportedly under fire for revealing the number to Compton's police department to over 500,000 Twitter followers this week.
According to weekend reports, a criminal investigation has launched against Game.
The L.A. Sheriff’s Department on Friday opened a criminal investigation after the rapper The Game sent a tweet containing the number for the sheriff’s Compton station, prompting hundreds of calls that authorities said overwhelmed the emergency phone system and delayed emergency service. The telephone calls began pouring in about 5:20 p.m. after The Game encouraged his 580,000 followers that if they wanted an internship with him, they should call the phone number, said Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Parker. “This was beyond irresponsible,” Parker said. “The deputies’ ability to answer the phones and dispatch personnel to help these people in danger was significantly impeded.” (Los Angeles Times)
Additional reporting claims the department received non-stop calls for hours.
Extra deputies were needed to handle the high amount of calls. It was unknown how many legitimate emergency calls did not get through because all lines were engaged for over two hours. (Rap-Up)
Game also hopped on Twitter and shared his input to the investigation.
“Yall can track a tweet down but cant solve murders ! Dat was an accident but maybe now yall can actually do yall job !!!! #iSpeak4ThePeople,” he tweeted August 12th.

Outside of criminal matters, Game’s R.E.D. Album is slated to hit stores on August 23rd.
“The album is real theatrical; it’s a movie,” Game said. “And it’s narrated by Dr. Dre — the entire album.” Dre, who originally signed Game to his Aftermath label and oversaw the rapper’s debut, The Documentary, has played a limited role in the rapper’s career since Game’s fallout with 50 Cent, who is also signed to Dre’s Aftermath. Since then, the West Coast production icon hasn’t contributed beats or vocals to any of Game’s subsequent albums. And though the two have since reconciled and have been spotted in the studio together, this will mark the first time that they’ve actually collaborated on album-worthy material. (RapFix)
