According to reports, Game is off the hook from Los Angeles police.

Police today (August 25) said they aren’t going to arrest the rapper Game for an alleged assault at a Hollywood club early on Tuesday morning. The rapper showed up at Hollywood Police Station today to tell police that he didn’t throw any punches in Tuesday night’s scuffle. After interviewing witnesses and taking a look at the shaky partial footage of the incident, the police told TMZ that they bought Game’s story. (LAist)

Footage of Game’s physical confrontation landed online earlier this week.

The Game has been accused of punching a man in the face in front of a Hollywood nightclub early Tuesday morning … law enforcement sources tell TMZ. We’re told the rapper has been named in a police report … filed by a man who claims he was attacked by The Game in front of Colony nightclub. TMZ obtained footage of the incident — which shows The Game engaged in a physical altercation … but it’s unclear if the rapper actually threw a punch. After the initial skirmish, a fired up Game can be seen yelling in frustration — and was restrained by his friends. We’re told the LAPD is investigating the incident … but no arrests have been made. So far, no word from The Game himself — but people close to the rapper tell us he denies hitting anyone. (TMZ)

The news came days after Game apologized and had a separate criminal investigation against him dropped by the local Sheriff’s Department.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday abruptly ended its investigation into rapper The Game less than a week after a message from his Twitter account jammed calls for hours at the Compton station. Sheriff’s officials noted that The Game’s decided to apologize for the incident. [Updated at 6:04 p.m.: Capt. Mike Parker said in an interview that the decision to end the probe came after officials concluded there was not enough evidence to move forward.] (Los Angeles Times)

Outside of legal matters, Game’s new R.E.D. Album is projected to debut on the sales chart next week.

Game’s new Interscope release, The R.E.D. Album, is slated to do in the range of 90-95k in sales, according to one-day reports from those music retailers who haven’t closed up shop and set up Ludo Bites pop-up restaurants. It’s the rap star’s first album since 2008’s LAX and stands for his self-declared “Rededication to hip-hop.” And, oh yeah, dropping the “The” from his name. (HITS Daily Double)
