G.O.O.D. Music’s Hit-Boy recently gave his take on the hype surrounding mentor Kanye West‘s new Air Yeezy 2 sneakers, which dropped today (June 9), and the reported $90,000 eBay bid for them.
While Yeezy has promised a pair, Hit-Boy said he has not yet gotten his own.
“Man, he told me he was going to give me some, but I didn’t really press the issue. So I don’t have none as of now,” Hit-Boy said in an interview when asked about getting laced with a pair. “[$90,000 eBay bid?] Yeah, I know. That was ridiculous, right?” (Vulture)
Reports of the $90,000 bid circulated online a few days ago.
Bidding for one pre-ordered pair of Kanye West’s Air Yeezy 2 sneakers have reached $90,100 on eBay. Though hip hop artist, Kanye West, has been wearing the shoes for months, the official release date for the Nike shoes is June 9, 2012. They retail for $245. (ABC News)
Reports claim only a limited amount of Air Yeezy 2’s are hitting store shelves.
Ye has been rocking his sneakers for months now, spurring public demand. However, in this case, demand will surpass supply: Nike says it will only release between 3,000-5,000 pairs of the limited edition sneakers. The official release date for the Nike shoes is Saturday, June 9th, but fans have been lined up outside select retail locations across the country since last week. (Philly)
The luxury kicks are an improved version of the original Air Yeezy’s which dropped three years ago.
According to dresslikekanyewest.com, some retail stores will hold raffles for online customers. The Air Yeezy 2 is the second installment of the 2009 Air Yeezy. It’s slimmer than the original, because it was designed to fit Kanye’s narrow foot. The design was inspired by the classic 1980s basketball shoes, according to Nike’s website. The shoes are available in two colors: platinum and black. (New York Daily News)
