G.O.O.D Music’s “Cruel Winter” Delay Finally Explained [Video]

G.O.O.D Music’s CyHi The Prynce recently updated fans on the status of his crew and why the highly anticipated Cruel Winter compilation album has remained shelved.

While slim with the details, CyHi said the music industry’s business side has kept Cruel Winter from coming out.

“Ah, Cruel Winter. Well, you know, we’re in negotiations with Def Jam. You know, sometimes they’re extra slow. We’re looking to put it out this year and my next mixtape, I’m trying to do it in the next month or two.” (Blogionista TV)

Back in February, G.O.O.D Music’s Big Sean promised the compilation would come out.

“Yeah, I hear it’s coming,” Sean said in an interview with radio host Jenny Boom Boom when asked about the LP possibly being delayed indefinitely. “I don’t want to spill the beans. I’m pretty sure, I’m pretty sure you’re gonna get it soon, sooner than you think. You know, who knows? It’s gonna be an awesome project and like I said, you’re gonna get my project, you’re gonna get Pusha T‘s album later on this year, Teyana Taylor‘s album, Common.” (“Jenny Boom Boom”)

G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T recently spoke on label head Kanye West‘s timing issues possibly delaying the album’s release indefinitely.

“I can tell you right now, I probably have 15 verses that are just over beats, that are lying around wherever ‘Ye and his hard drive is right now,” he said. “And I’m sure Cyhi, Sean, Cudi, Tip, everybody has other production or verses on these records as well.” It’s no secret that Kanye is very guarded about his studio work and it is with reason, Push says. “I think ‘Ye really tries to keep the brand, keep it up to a certain standard and piecing together a record like that, it’s just not gonna work,” he said. Chicago rapper Common crushed fans’ hopes after claiming the LP would likely never drop in a January interview.

Does G.O.O.D. Music really have a Cruel Winter album coming? Oh, yeah, nah, nah. I don’t think that’s happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody’s been doing their solo album. So that’s what that is. (Vulture)
