According to Yusef, the LP will not bear the title, however, one of the featured songs will.

Earlier this week, rumors surrounded the title of Kanye West’s next album, which was reportedly titled I Am God. Apparently, it won’t be. The album reportedly will not be called I Am God, though there may be a song on it with a similar title. According to a tweet from Malik Yusef, the song will be called “I Am A God.” [@malikyusef you know anything about this ‘I am God’ stuff? @TeamKanyeChi its ‘I am(A) GOD’ FAMO #psalms 82] As Yusef points out, the song title refers to Psalms 82, which states: “I said, ‘You are Gods, and all of you children of the Most High. But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.” (Complex)

Rumors on Ye’s upcoming baby and LP names heated up the Internet earlier in the week.

Mixed emotions greet reports that Kanye West is considering calling his first child North. It’s a good joke, from a slightly unexpected source (neither the rapper nor his possibly even more famous partner, Kim Kardashian, are best known for their self-deprecating sallies, although the title Kanye is supposed to be contemplating for his new album, I Am God, is said to be “half tongue-in-cheek”). And North, who is due in July, would certainly be following in an established tradition. Mr and Mrs Peace, Mr and Mrs Christmas, Mr and Mrs Gallery, for example, sat down, had a good think and decided to call their respective offspring Warren, Merry, and Art, while Mr and Mrs Beach realised too late that a popular diminutive of Alexander is Sandy. Yusef spilled some details on the mystery project’s theme last month.

He’s not the only act to firm up recording plans with West to reporters at the Awards. Longtime collaborator Malik Yusef was also on hand, and he ended up describing his efforts with West akin to “work camps,” saying recording can be “tortuous.” “He is a perfectionist, obviously. It’s harsh,” he said, noting that whether they’re in Paris or Hawaii, it’s a labor. “[West] says no to a hundred things.” As to the specifics of sound and scope, Yusef said “I can’t talk too much about it. Just remember black music, the black experience. It’s a throwback to that era,” he said, but “a distillation of what’s happening in the modern world.” What it won’t have is a lot of West singing, or at least not as much singing as he did on 2008’s “808s & Heartbreak.” “I don’t know if we’d ever revisit that amount of singing,” Yusef said. Atlanta singer/producer The-Dream recently revealed his involvement on the LP.

“I’ve been told to zip it,” he said. However, he did reveal Kanye West is working on his next album — and he’ll be joining the hip-hop star in Paris to work on it in the coming weeks. And as for his much-talked-about hats? “[Jay-Z] was just digging on me, we do that,” he said, defending his on-stage headwear choice. “B had just said, she wanted both of these hats.” (Billboard)
