Bad Boy Records rapper French Montana has sent out a public warning to his competition as fans await his upcoming Excuse My French debut by proclaiming himself hip-hop’s current MVP.
In French’s perspective, there is no other rapper on his level without an album on store shelves.
“I don’t understand what people want me to say. I know my work,” he said confidently. “I know that I’m the hottest in the game with no album out. Let’s get that clear.” In terms of album’s content, French explained that he was making exactly what the kids want to hear. “I make ignorant music,” he declared. “I grew up in an ignorant generation, so that’s what they wanna hear now, the ‘Ocho Cincos’ — they know everything word by word.” (MTV)
He also stood behind delaying the long-awaited debut until later this year.
“The pushback is ’cause I switched the single,” he said. “There was another single with Puff and Jeremih, but me and Nicki had this other song, so I just switched it. Then with clearances [there was a delay]…it wasn’t about the album; it was about me switching the single.” (MTV)
If all goes accordingly, fans will finally get their hands on French’s debut just after mid-May.
French Montana has suffered yet another push back. The NY rapper’s debut album Excuse My French was originally scheduled for release in March but was later pushed back to April 16th. Today, the album which is a joint venture between Bad Boy, MMG and Interscope has been delayed yet again to May 21st. Will this be the final date? You may never know. (HHNM)
Prior to his latest comments, Montana declared the LP as one of the best hip-hop releases in a decade.
“Rick Ross and [Diddy] are both executive-producing the album,” French said in an interview. “I feel it’s going to be a classic. I feel like it’s going to be the best album to come out in a decade. … The album of the decade because it’s just it. I heard everybody’s album and I’m a fan of everybody and I just don’t feel like nobody came out with an album like this.” (Rap-Up TV)
