Bad Boy Records' French Montana recently dished out some music industry tips and explained why despite the temptation, beefing is not worth the risk.
In French’s perspective, a rap beef can easily have more disadvantages than positive ones.
“You can’t beef with people because it [will] scare money away. In the streets you can strongarm people and take money but you can’t do that in the industry,” French said in an interview. “That’s why I stay away from beef. I used to be enemies with everybody, now I’m just cool with everybody. You have to learn to get more money like that.” (Complex)
Although not rap-related, Montana recently found himself in a marital beef with ex-wife Deen Kharbouch.
“It happens to the best,” French said when he appeared on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live.” “As long as I take care of my family, make sure my son is good. I feel like that’s a weight off my shoulder, you know, I could sleep good,” he told “RapFix” host Sway Calloway about the split. “It’s just kinda like you’re moving and you’re not the same person, ’cause you’re so busy doing what you’re doing. You get conflicts.” (MTV)
Rather than dig deep into the matter, French explained his reasoning for keeping everything romance-related under wraps.
French, who was a little reluctant to speak on the matter, says he’d rather just keep his private life private. “I never like to mix my family with the business. I feel like that’s why you never see me post pictures of my son or anybody. That’s a part of me that keeps me sane,” he said. “Once you get exposed into the Internet world, I feel like it becomes everybody’s business.” (MTV)
Earlier this month, Deen Kharbouch publicly called him out over Twitter.
“@frenchmontana ur trying to use me to get a buzz. Your fans deserve to know the truth. They would be fans no more.,” she tweeted September 10th.
