Bad Boy Records' French Montana is not shying away from making headlines recently over a publicized marital split and has now come clean on the family conflict.

While he avoided addressing his ex-wife, French did admit his son is priority number one.

“It happens to the best,” French said when he appeared on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live.” “As long as I take care of my family, make sure my son is good. I feel like that’s a weight off my shoulder, you know, I could sleep good,” he told “RapFix” host Sway Calloway about the split. “It’s just kinda like you’re moving and you’re not the same person, ’cause you’re so busy doing what you’re doing. You get conflicts.” (MTV)

Rather than dig deep into the matter, French explained his reasoning for keeping everything else under wraps.

French, who was a little reluctant to speak on the matter, says he’d rather just keep his private life private. “I never like to mix my family with the business. I feel like that’s why you never see me post pictures of my son or anybody. That’s a part of me that keeps me sane,” he said. “Once you get exposed into the Internet world, I feel like it becomes everybody’s business.” (MTV)

Last week, Montana’s ex Deen Kharbouch publicly called him out over Twitter.

“@frenchmontana ur trying to use me to get a buzz. Your fans deserve to know the truth. They would be fans no more.,” she tweeted September 10th.

“@frenchmontana abandonment is NOT cool.. Family First!”

“@DaNYCGossipGirl @frenchmontana We have been married for 6 years and NOW he brings me up???” (Deen Kharbouch’s Twitter)

Tensions boiled after Montana recently revealed his separation from Deen and said fame ultimately caused them to call it quits.

“Man, I couldn’t do it; that’s why we got separated,” French explains. “At first it was smooth, but then as much as people think that money changes you, it’s changing them around you. A person ain’t gonna treat you the same now that they think that you think you somebody.” (The Boom Box)
