Aiming to drop the solo project this summer, Foxy plans to fuse rap and dancehall rock.

“The new album! Black Roses. I’m in the studio every night, slaving. It’s going to be the first double CD from any female rapper in history, so it’s going to be really big. One side is going to be straight hip-hop and hardcore records, and a couple big radio joints, and then the other side is dancehall rock… I personally want it to drop around August or September.” (Billboard)

Last August, Foxy discussed working on Black Roses via her Twitter page.

“The Devil’s at his busiest when ur bout’ to get busy!,” she wrote Sunday (August 1).

“So I’m low, staying focused on the bigger shit in my life; like this new “Black Roses” album!” (Foxy Brown’s Twitter)

A week prior, Foxy announced plans to drop Black Roses sometime in 2010.

Before the sound cut off, AZ spit his verse from Nas‘s classic’ Life’s a B*tch,’ leaving the stage to allow Fox to address the crowd one last time. The femcee, while assuring the audience that her new album, ‘Black Roses,’ is slated for release later this year, left the stage to the tune of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Foxy Lady’ – and that she was. Foxy’s last album dropped roughly three years ago via Koch Records.

A brief fling withRoc-A Fella did not amount to much, and throughout the early 2000s, Brown was in and out of the media spotlight for physical altercations. Her next release didn’t materialize until May 2008: Brooklyn’s Don Diva, issued through Koch. (All Music)
