According to reports, German citizen and ex-rapper Denis “Deso Dogg” Cuspert is making headlines this week.

Denis Cuspert, 39, joined the extremist al Qaeda-inspired outfit, also known as ISIS or ISIL in Syria and Iraq, in 2012 and has since become a recruiter “with special emphasis on recruiting German speakers” to the group, the department said in a statement. (Washington Times)

Cuspert is also wanted by the German government over his alleged actions.

The State Department said Cuspert is “emblematic of the type of foreign recruit” ISIS seeks, has been a “willing pitchman” for the organization’s “atrocities” and as such been officially designated as a “foreign terrorist fighter and operative” for the group. (NBC News)

The 39-year-old has reportedly been spotted in various videos.

Deso Dogg, whose real name is Denis Cuspert, traded a middling career on the Berlin music scene to become the face of German-grown terror, first in Al Qaeda, and then in the Islamic State’s so-called caliphate. In recent years, Cuspert, 39, who the U.S. State Department on Monday designated a “global terrorist,” appeared in numerous propaganda videos aimed at recruiting German jihadists. But he was rumored to have been killed until he appeared in an especially grisly video that surfaced in November. (Fox News)

During his hip-hop days, Cuspert spent time touring with rap veteran DMX.

The former hip-hop artist, who achieved modest success in Germany and even toured with rapper DMX, has since spoken out against his old life in propaganda for the group, according to Yahoo!. “I was a sinner. I lived in sin before I turned to Islam. Surrounded by music, drugs, alcohol and women,” he said in one video, urging Muslims around the world to join the Islamic State caliphate. (Huffington Post)
