[After a short stint on Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace and writing for handfuls of artists like Trey Songz and Juicy J, Columbia Records' TK-N-Cash talk to SOHH about using their past to move them forward.]
The motivation to work in the music industry came from passion and being a fan of something. We were both fans of music so when we got a little taste of it, it really took over our lives.
It became a passion of ours. That’s where the motivation came from.
You know when you get a taste of something, you want more and more. You reach one plateau and then you want to reach the next one.
It becomes like a goal you want to reach. We’re definitely on the path to reach that goal. -TK
We both were really just writing for other artists. That was the focus at the time. We were writing for ourselves and the music just came from it.
We got our first placement with Trey Songz on a song called, “What I Be On” and it was just a blessing to have writing in the picture. –Cash
What defines TK-N-Cash is TK-N-Cash. Nobody can tell our story like we can tell our story.
I feel like everybody is trying to be different. When everybody’s trying to be different, I feel like nobody’s being different because they’re all doing the same thing.
So all we can really do is be ourselves and that’s how we’re going to stand out. Nobody can tell our story like we can. –TK
