Former "American Idol" season one winner Kelly Clarkson recently gave her take on the war of words between panelists Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey and said viewers should embrace their publicized quarrel.

Rather than pick sides, Clarkson said the tension could be just what the popular reality show needs.

Whether good or bad, everyone will be tuning in — including season-one champ Clarkson. “I heard they had some argument,” Clarkson recently told MTV News. “Well, that will all make for fun TV, let’s be honest!” In the 10 years since Clarkson won “Idol,” she has returned several times to perform. And even though it’s exciting for her to go back to where it all began, the 30-year-old singer — who is gearing up to release her Greatest Hits – Chapter 1 album November 19 — admits that sometimes it makes her feel a bit old. On Minaj’s new “My Truth” reality show premiere, she playfully takes a shot at Carey.

Speaking in her new reality show ‘My Truth’, Nicki revealed: ‘I think Mariah met her match this time, and I don’t think she was expecting to meet her match. ‘I’m super nervous and anxious for the first day on ‘American Idol’. I’m still second guessing my decision. I’m probably going to be a hundred times guessing this decision because I’m human. It’s a big job.’ The outspoken rapper was true to her word and proceeded to have a meltdown because her new stylist had misjudged her taste in clothes mere hours before the first day of auditions, and she branded all her options ‘ugly’. Last month, an “American Idol” producer addressed Minaj’s war of words with fellow judge Mariah Carey.

“American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe is adamant … the bitter feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj is as real as it gets — and his proof lies in simple logic. Nigel was out in L.A. yesterday when we asked for the final word — did he or did he not stage the feud for ratings??? — and Nigel replied, “I have no idea why I would be doing it [for ratings] five months before the show went out.” He added, “I would only do ANYTHING for ratings a month before the show went out. They’ve got my timing wrong.” Translation: keep your eyes out for a crazy “Idol” ratings ploy in three months. (TMZ)

West Coast rapper Game also gave his take on the feud in October.

The outspoken MC also weighed in on the Nicki vs. Mariah Carey “American Idol” feud, taking a diplomatic stance. “I think one day when Nicki’s career is said and done, she’ll be legendary,” said Game. “I think that Mariah Carey is bigger than life. I think she’s like female Elvis at this point. Two amazing women should be able to get along and I’d love to see that happen sooner than later.” (Rap-Up)
