Forget Donald Sterling, Another NBA Owner In Hot Seat

Weeks after the now-infamous leaked Donald Sterling tapes, fellow NBA owner Mark Cuban has come forward to address dicey comments he made in relation to slain teen Trayvon Martin. #WordsAreWeapons

Cuban jumped onto his Twitter page to address the masses.

“P/1: In hindsight I should have used different examples. I didn’t consider the Trayvon Martin family, and I apologize to them for that.,” Cuban tweeted May 22.

“P/2: beyond apologizing to the Martin family, I stand by the words and substance of the interview.”

“P/3: I think that helping people improve their lives, helping people engage with people they may fear or may not understand,”

“P/4: and helping people realize that while we all may have our prejudices and bigotries”

“P/5: we have to learn that it’s an issue that we have to control, that it’s part of my responsibility as an entrepreneur to try to solve it” (Mark Cuban’s Twitter)

Former NBA star Jalen Rose questioned Mark’s comments and publicly reached out.

“Hey @markcuban, what’s wrong w/a black guy wearing a hoodie at night? #confused #stereotype,” Rose tweeted May 22.

“Only dreaded hood wearers in this country are Skinheads. #Cuban”

“Only folks in this country that were crossing the street because they were intimidated were blacks when they saw whites. #segregation”

“Hey @MCuban, what’s wrong w/a black guy wearing a hoodie at night? #confused #stereotype” (Jalen Rose’s Twitter)

Details of what Cuban said have surfaced online today (May 22).

Cuban is referring to the comments he made during an interview in Nashville where he said, “I know I’m prejudiced and I know I’m bigoted in a lot of different ways. If I see a black kid in a hoodie on my side of the street, I’ll move to the other side of the street. If I see a white guy with a shaved head and tattoos, I’ll move back to the other side of the street. None of us have pure thoughts; we all live in glass houses.” (TMZ)
