Joey said his battle with food ultimately ended with him realizing he had to make a change in his life.

“I don’t find it hard [to diet]. I’m addicted to food and I love to eat but I don’t find it hard at all,” Joey Crack said in an interview. “It’s like a crackhead; a crackhead just hits rock bottom and they realize they don’t wanna smoke crack no more — you know what I’m saying? So I just said to myself, ‘I don’t wanna be overweight no more, I don’t wanna be outta shape, I don’t wanna be at risk of passing away and stuff like that so I gotta do the right thing.” (WENN)

In August, Fat Joe said losing 88 pounds even caught the attention of CNN (Cable News Network).

“I’m not trying to impress nobody or nothing like that,” Joe told MTV News. “I’m just trying to get healthy so I can be here for my family and take care of my kids and live the life that was intended for me to live, so it was crazy when I started getting all this attention. Two weeks from now, CNN is coming to my house, Sanjay Gupta, a big special, and all this attention is crazy.” (MTV)

Former “Celebrity Fit Club” contestant Kimberley Locke recently talked to SOHH about rappers like Fat Joe shaking the weight.

“Wow, I didn’t even know about that. I’m going to have to read about it. I think we should all try to be a little bit healthier,” Locke told SOHH when told about Fat Joe’s massive weight loss. “Especially in the [entertainment] industry where so many people are watching us and we’re role models for so many people and so many kids. Listen, if you ask ten people in the street who their heroes are, nine times out of ten they’re going to name a celebrity. People really do look to celebrities to set the role. I think it’s fantastic that people are getting in control of their health and taking better care of themselves.” (SOHH)

Recently, Joe’s “Paradise” remix collaborator Mickey Factz hit up SOHH and shared his reaction to the rapper’s new look.

“I’m happy that he’s lost the weight,” Factz told SOHH referring to Fat Joe. “Being somebody from the Bronx and being able to see the loss and impact of Big Pun before he got a chance to lose weight, it was devastating to the borough, it was devastating to the BX rappers. So to see Joe lose this weight is a good thing for him. And I’m proud. I think he’s gonna catch a wave. It’s gonnaclean up his image a little bit and I don’t know if he wants to continue to be called Fat Joe but at the end of the day, I’m glad.” (SOHH)
