According to Joey Crack, he kept busy with various activities during his four-month stretch.

“Man, I just been working, working out, reading a lot, educating myself, eating healthy,” Joe said when asked how he kept busy during his bid. “I was in the building where you don’t see the sun. So I came out like a white chicken wing – I ain’t have the sunrays.” (Revolt TV)

Joey Crack also discussed a clip he posted of himself surprising his daughter on Thanksgiving.

“They gave me a pass to come home for Thanksgiving. It was like, for a couple of hours. The reason why she ain’t really notice me at first is because I was like hiding behind this wood wall and I popped out on her. I was just so happy to see my daughter. I never told her where I was at. I would phone her and tell her I was on tour overseas and write her letters. That was hard. … My last day of captivity will be Christmas Eve, a Christmas present, yeah. … I’m not able to go to the studio yet so as soon as I touch that studio, I’m ready to go.” (Revolt TV)

Buzz behind Joe’s unexpected early release heated up the Internet last month.

Earlier this year, Fat Joe was sentenced to four months in prison, a $15,000 fine, and a year of supervision after his release for tax evasion. According to the original report, “Joe owed $718,038 in back taxes from 2007 through 2010 but in the end, he only pleaded guilty for the two years. The report also claimed Joe made $1.18 million in 2007, more than $1.28 million in 2008, more than $265,000 in 2009, and more than $630,000 in 2010.” On August 26 of this year, Joe turned himself in to Miami’s Federal Detention Center to serve his four months. Today, according to an Instagram post by “All I Do Is Win” producer DJ Nasty, Joe has been released early–right in time for Thanksgiving dinner! There are no other details at this time. Prior to beginning his sentence, the Bronx rapper revealed a personal accountant mishandled his finances which ultimately resulted in a tax-related conviction.

“Well, what happened was I always had the same accountant for years and his son was in a car accident — so he retired and they introduced me to a new accountant so he took over my stuff so I got onto my ‘rapper’ where I have the guy paying all my bills and all that, so I’m wiring him money to pay my bills, my taxes — months and months of not paying [off my taxes], he paid it all off and I already knew this was some Ponzi scheme type dude. … So next day I went and got [a different] accountant and we tried to fix what was going on. … They feel like you, as the leader of your household, you supposed to be over everything that’s going on. You still get the blame even though it’s the accountant’s fault. … I paid them all the money back and I figured if you pay them all your money back — I ended up spending a million two hundred thousand and you know, I’m not Jay Z or none of that. Penalties is on top of that.” (“The Breakfast Club”)
