It was unexpected for me [to have a delay] because I already believed that my album was done and ready to come out. I was all ready in France shooting my album cover, and then we got call from Nas saying that he wanted to executive produce it, later on in the process.

Later in the process, we got the call, and he said, ‘I think I want to executive produce this’. That inspired us to go back in, and that’s why we put the date back ultimately.

Yes it was frustrating but, it challenged me to go back and challenge what I had already recorded thus far.

I do feel that now [it was a better decision], because creatively and sonically, what happened to it after he put his hands on it is just I couldn’t imagine that.

I’m actually happy he pushed it back and I took my time on it. That’s one thing I learned, when you’re trying to make timeless music, it really takes time, you can’t rush it.

I was really going with the flow. It felt right, and I would be stupid not to take advice from the legend that is Nas. I took heed and now we have an official release date and we’re days 8 days away and I couldn’t be more excited.
