Loso also revealed a few notable collaborations he brought along for his new ‘tape.

“We kept the same type of vibe,” Fab said in an interview referring to the new project. “[It’s] different from some of the other music that I normally do or put out through my other releases. We kept the vibe and the music kind of soulful, sample-influenced. This one, I think I have a little bit more — collaborations with some people that you might not have heard me collaborate with. We’ve got features still coming in right now. We’re still working until the deadline, that’s how I work. We’ve got J. Cole, we got your boy Troy Ave on there, got Wale on there, I’ve got Joe Budden on there – that’s the first time we’ve collaborated in a little bit.” (On Smash)

Fab confirmed the mixtape’s Thanksgiving release date yesterday (November 21).

“Are yall ready for Thanksgiving… Soul food… & Soul Tape 2 Download 2moro @livemixtapes http://livemixtap.es/soultape2 http://twitpic.com/bf6w2e,” he tweeted. (Fabolous’ Twitter)

Earlier this year, he contemplated what the mixtape’s name should be.

“I’m almost done with it,” Fab revealed in an interview referring to the upcoming mixtape. “I did the poll [on Twitter] to get people interactive with it and see what names they would come up with. I’m doing it over all old soul sampled beats, so I wanted to keep the world ‘soul’ within the title. A lot of people picked ‘Soul Survivor’ or really attached it to There Is No Competition because they are already familiar with that and that’s one of the mixtape monikers for me. But I wanted to keep it separate from There Is No Competition, even though that name is winning [in the poll]. I might actually go with the third option which is ‘The S.O.U.L. Tape.’ The first one that was winning was ‘Rest The Souls of the Competition.’ That’s kinda like playing into There Is No Competition 2 and the next one is ‘TINC 2.5: Soul Survivor.’ But I’m trying to steer away from that because that’s its own brand. I want to steer away from both of those and just call it ‘The S.O.U.L. Tape.'” (XXL Mag)

In April 2011, Fab broke down the concept behind his S.O.U.L series.

“The S.O.U.L. Tape is a mixture of soul sampled beats and some soul and sampled instrumentals from other people’s songs like I guess people have seen the ‘Devil In A Blue Dress’ freestyle that I did,” Fab explained in an interview. “That was sort of one of the soul beats I used to freestyle over. Things in that lane and that vein. It made the CD more like a vibe CD…I wanted to bring that [remix trend] back to the game. I saw that the game, when it came to remixes now, was just picking up three, four, five other dudes and throwing them on the same beat and letting that rock out. I think every now and again that’s cool. Sometimes some beats are so infectious, that’s cool too, but I think people should go back to creating a new song and bringing a new experience to a record and bringing the record back to life as well.” (Rap Radar)
