Nearly four years after rap star Kanye West's now-infamous MTV Video Music Awards 2009 rant, new alleged audio following the incident has leaked online.
According to reports, the secret recording reportedly took place after the VMAs during Ye’s dinner with friends.
Gawker has obtained audio of an alleged Kanye West erratically justifying his interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards (“Because I wrote my [‘Run This Town’] verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé”), ranting about not being asked to perform at the ceremony over Pink, and claiming that his mother, Donda West, “died for this fame shit.” The audio supposedly was recorded secretly while West was at dinner with friends after leaving Radio City Music Hall on the night of the 2009 VMAs (September 13, 2009). Our tipster tells us that West shared a table with other musicians (none of whom are easily identifiable in the audio above) at the Corner Bistro in New York’s West Village.” (Gawker)
During his conversational rant, Yeezy talks about his obsession with perfection and standing up for what’s right.
“I’d rather just let the [inaudible] speak for itself. You know, it’s like, I was happy to be in a situation where people couldn’t say, oh, I was trying to promote my own song. For the times that I’ve, like, defended myself… [Tape break] I’m pushing the envelope! I wrote my fuckin’ ‘Run This Town’ verse for a fuckin’ month! When I heard Eminem’s verse on the Drake shit, I went back and rewrote my shit for two days. I canceled appointments to rewrite! I fuckin’ care! You know what I’m saying? And that’s what I’m saying. Recently, Mr. West said he did not regret the 2009 interruption during country singer Taylor Swift’s moment.
“It’s only led me to complete awesomeness at all times. It’s only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. That’s all it is,” Kanye said in an interview. “I don’t have one regret.” (New York Times)
Coincidentally, Kanye’s rap sidekick Jay-Z referenced Taylor on his “100$ Bill” track earlier this year.
Taylor Swift isn’t the only one who uses her songs to get revenge! In a new song from The Great Gatsby soundtrack, Jay-Z calls the 23-year-old singer out! In the song, Jay-Z implies that people tell celebrities to behave, but they don’t have to because of the amount of money they have. He raps, “That cheese made us constipated couldn’t tell us s**t. Then, Jay-Z takes a major stab at Taylor! He says, “Took that, Taylor Swift to a hundred f**king million, b***h,” referring to the incident where Kanye West stole the microphone from Taylor at the 2009 MTV Music Awards. Jay-Z is saying Kanye became famous for dissing Taylor, and now Kanye is worth $100 million, according to Forbes. (Hollywood Life)
