According to E-v-e, it wasn’t until she hit the mainstream spotlight of the music industry when she started becoming self-conscious over her image.

“I honestly didn’t know about body image until I got in the business — and for me, I’m a girl from Philly. All Philly girls are the same; feisty with a fat ass. And then as I started getting into fashion, the fashion world started liking me and I started having to get samples and started thinking, ‘What is my face going to look like in the picture? What am I going to look like when I film? What does this dress look like in a picture?’ That becomes obsessive. … I struggle with my booty, since I’m 15. It started when I was 15. There’s another part that lives in my head and an a** that lives in my head as well, so I’ve gone to trainers, I’ve done squats, I’ve done it all. No ‘surgery,’ nothing like that, but it’s not been to where I wanted it to be, not bigger, just toned.” (StyleLikeU Round Table)

Back in February, Young Money’s Nicki Minaj denied ever going under the knife for any of her facial features.

In an interview with Extra, Nicki told correspondent Renee Bargh: “I’ve never had surgery on my face. They’ll see contour and they’ll think you had surgery on your nose, no no no, look at RuPaul’s drag race and you’ll see how you can make your nose look any shape you want. When people see my makeup they think all types of crazy things that I’m doing to my skin, but it’s makeup.” (Hollywood Life)

In 2011, reality star Coco Austin talked to SOHH about being compared to Minaj due to their eye-catching backsides and affirmed hers is natural.

“I don’t want to be put in the same category but the thing is I have had requests [and questions] and it’s all real from down under,” Coco assured SOHH. “Like, there’s nothing going on there. Yeah, so, I really celebrate the fact that I have a womanly [body] and why not? It’s not like I try to cover it up. I don’t want to be homely looking, I just want people to see that sexy woman that I always have been.” (SOHH)

A couple months ago, Brooklyn rap veteran Lil’ Kim slammed plastic surgery accusations.

“#TeamLilKim Ive put up with lies & bullsh*t from the blogs for too long.,” she tweeted March 8th.

“Years & years they have been photoshopping pics of me & sabotaging my image. I’m not putting up with that sh*t no more.”

“All they have been proving is im THAT b*tch with or without an album out & they always want to attack & bring down the real ones”

“Today was the last straw. You saw me on TV, people were posting pics all day… None of them looked the way that fake picture looked.” (Lil’ Kim’s Twitter)
