After a decade since her last solo album dropped, former Ruff Ryders member Eve is one step closer to getting Lip Lock on store shelves by shooting packaging photos for the upcoming LP.
One photo from her shoot with renowned snapper Amarpaul Kalirai popped up heading into the week.
Eve is finally ready to make her return. The Philly raptress shot the packaging for her first album in over a decade, Lip Lock, over the weekend with photographer Amarpaul Kalirai. She rocked several high-fashion looks including a ponytail and black Celine dress, bangs with a patterned catsuit, and blazer with a fedora. “Check the #stance!!! all my #sexy #fly #confident #strong #independent #intelligent #real # women stand up!!” tweeted E-V-E. The platinum-selling rapper recently discussed her long-awaited LP and its importance.
“It was important for me to do this record for people that love me in the beginning. I think I took lyrically what people fell in love with me with Ruff Ryders and brought it to where I am now musically. I think when people hear it, they’re gonna be like, ‘Yo, that’s my girl.’ That’s what I really wanted.” (“The Angie Martinez Show”)
Eve recently talked about not stressing over new female emcees which have entered the rap game since 2002’s Eve-Olution dropped.
“I don’t pay attention. I live in a bubble, I really do. I shouldn’t, but I do. Ultimately, if I worried about what people think about me, I couldn’t be who I am. It is what it is. I don’t prove anything to anyone but myself. And that’s a lot of the big reason why it took me so long to finish this record and now I’m finally ready to put out this record. I’m always chasing me, I’m not chasing anyone else. Whatever. I’m my own competition.” (FUSE)
Back in 2010, the Philadelphia-bred emcee spoke on her LP’s frequent delays.
“I’ve been saying the album is coming and it was but I left Interscope and now I’m on EMI so the album is definitely coming,” Eve said in an interview. “[It’s coming] at the top of the year. It’s called Lip Lock. It’ll be out at the top of the year, in March, I don’t have a date yet. But so far on the album, it’s Salaam Remi, Akon, of course Swizz Beatz — you don’t get out of Ruff Ryders. Obviously that’s my fam and I haven’t wrapped up the album yet so I’m sure you’ll hear some stuff from somebody.” (Ms Drama TV)
