Fox’s hit “Empire” TV series isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The popular show ended on a high note last night (May 24) with its season three finale.

According to reports, “Empire” won back its fans and brought in its largest audience since March.

Empire may have shed a significant portion of its linear viewers during its third season, but it ended the run on a strong note — easily topping Wednesday, the last night of the 2016-17 broadcast season. The Fox drama closed it out with an average 2.4 rating among adults 18-49, a two-tenths of a point lift from the penultimate episode, and 6.9 million viewers. All told, it was the drama’s best same-day showing since March. (The Hollywood Reporter)

A couple months ago, “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson talked about the show’s future.

“I could not do this forever. No. Cookie wears me out!” Henson exclaimed during a recent interview with Variety. “She drains me,” the actress adds with a laugh. “She is emotionally all over the place. Those writers, they just keep pushing my emotions with every episode. By the 18th episode [of each season], I’m dead. I got to get far away. I don’t wear animal print. I cut my hair into a bob. I don’t wear a weave because I’ve got to get as far away from Cookie as possible.” (Variety)

Henson also spoke up on how long she sees “Empire” possibly going.

“I learned this from the women of ‘Sex and the City’ — you’ve got to know when to go out. You don’t want to overstay your welcome. You want to go out on a high. You want to be remembered as the number one show on network,” Henson adds. “I’m going to loose my passion, I know me. And Cookie is enough. I can’t do that for so long.” (Variety)

A few months ago, “Empire” actress Serayah spoke to SOHH about how long she sees their show going.

“I definitely see “Empire” having a great run but ending on a good note. We started off as a pilot for a new show and the success that we all wanted and dreamt of forever, we all got to share that together. I feel like the end will come and be very great and everyone will be very happy with it and understand it. But I don’t see it being a “Law & Order” type of thing where it lasts that, that, that long. It will last just enough for our fans and our cast.” (SOHH)
