Fox's hit "Empire" television show is being targeted in a new multi-million dollar lawsuit by music company Empire Distribution.
According to reports, Empire Distribution, which has worked with music stars like Kendrick Lamar and N.O.R.E., wants millions over its name.
“Empire Distribution is willing to live with the taint, but only if Fox pays $8 million … $5 million if the show uses Empire Distribution’s artists as regulars. But now Fox has filed a lawsuit asking a judge to declare Empire Distribution’s demand bogus.”

The Success Of The TV Show “Empire”
Based on recent reports, last Wednesday (March 18 2015) night’s finale scored a 6.5 rating among adults 18-49 and brought in 16.7 million viewers.
First of all, that’s a record for the TV ratings rule breaking series and up 71% and 69% respectively from the results of the show’s debut back on January 7. Secondly, compared to the series’ March 11 1-hour show that’s a 12% rise in both categories. It’s a 2% bop up from earlier demo numbers this morning and a 1% rise viewershipwise. While still behind the March 15 airing of AMC’s The Walking Dead, Empire has now solidly taken the lead among shows on the Big 4 among adults 18-49 this season.

Last week, “Empire” star Jussie Smollett talked to SOHH about what the show’s explosive first season.
“I feel like Season 1 was the set up and then Season 2 will be, okay, let’s go back and let’s clean up all of the Lyons’ stuff, if you will. I’m very happy. I’m very excited where Jamal, where his journey has taken him, from beginning to now, and where it’s going to end up going. I’m very excited.”

“Empire” star Bryshere “Yazz” Gray talked to SOHH this week about working with music veteran Snoop Dogg on the finale episode.
“It was great to work with Snoop [Dogg]. It was good to vibe out with the legend Snoop Dogg and to get some jewels I can take into life and use and to apply them to my everyday life.”

Wonder if Empire distribution is going to sue Empire cosmetology school too for $8 million ……… or just $5 million if the can get their artist hair done on a regular ……. smh
right! is the for the name ‘Empire’ itself or the way its branded as a record label. if its just the name their lawyers should have been pretty busy long before this show lol
