Reports of the accomplishment hit the Internet Thursday (March 10).

Eminem’s fourth studio album The Eminem Show which was released on May 28th, 2002 is now officially certified Diamond by the RIAA, making it his first LP to cross the 10 million mark in the United States. This white guy never ceases to amaze. Artist: Eminem, Title: The Eminem Show, Certification Date: 03/07/2011, Label: Interscope, Award Description: 10.00 x Multi Platinum, Format: Album, Category: Solo, Type: ST. (Hip Hop N More)

The album focused on Em’s personal life and relationship with his mother, ex-wife and daughter.

Third time around, it’s The Eminem Show — a title that signals that Eminem’s public persona is front and center, for the very first time. And it is, as he spends much of the album commenting on the media circus that dominated on his life ever since the release of Marshall Mathers. This, of course, encompasses many, many familiar subjects — his troubled childhood; his hatred of his parents; his turbulent relationship with his ex-wife, Kim (including the notorious incident when he assaulted a guy who allegedly kissed her — the event that led to their divorce); his love of his daughter, Hailie; and, of course, all the controversy he generated, notably the furor over his alleged homophobia and his scolding from Lynne Cheney, which leads to furious criticism about the hypocrisy of America and its government. Just last month, Em received Grammy trophies for his latest solo album, Recovery.

Rap mogul Jay-Z‘s three-award Grammy juggernaut rolled early: At the afternoon ceremony he collected awards for best rap/sung collaboration and best rap song (for his duet with Alicia Keys, “Empire State of Mind”) and best rap performance by a duo or group (for “On to the Next One,” with Swizz Beatz). Eminem – the year’s comeback kid (his album “Recovery” has sold 3.5 million) and the day’s top nominee, with 10 nods – took best rap album, and in the early going as “Not Afraid” pulled in best rap solo performance honors. To date, Em’s summer 2010 Recovery LP has sold over 3.6 million copies.

Grammy-winning rapper Eminem’s Recovery moved down six slots to No. 13 with 27,300. With 37 weeks under his belt, Slim Shady’s latest offering has sold 3,694,900 copies. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
