Grammy-winning rapper Eminem has reportedly agreed to perform at the upcoming 2009 BET Awards in California next month.
Slim Shady will grace the ceremony joining other artists including Kanye West and Beyonce.
The controversial rapper will appear for the second time, insiders tell Rap-Up.com. An official announcement could come as soon as tomorrow when Em stops by “106 & Park.” Kanye West, Beyonce, Soulja Boy Tell’em, Ne-Yo and Maxwell have been announced as performers for the event which will be hosted by Jamie Foxx. The showcase will also be highlighted by star-studded nominees.
Beyonce and T.I. are tied with five nominations each with Beyonce in the running for the Best Female R&B Artist and Video of The Year. T.I. is vying for Best Collaboration while Lil Wayne, T-Pain and Keri Hilson follow close behind with four nominations a piece. Among the other multiple nominees are Kanye West, Keyshia Cole, Jamie Foxx, Rihanna, M.I.A, Day 26, Common, The Dream, Trina, Lil Mama, Angela Bassett, Idris Elba, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Cheryl Ford, Candace Parker, Tamika Catchings, Benny Boom, Gil Green, Chris Robinson and Hype Williams. Em’s last performance at the event was alongside Busta Rhymes in 2006.
Busta Rhymes brought along all his homies, including a surprise appearance by Eminem alongside Missy Elliott, Lloyd Banks and Rah Digga, among others, for a truly show-stopping rendition of the “Touch It” remix. (MTV)
