Em claims he used to run nearly 20 miles a day to help recover from drugs.

“I was running a lot to the point you could see my addict behavior poking through. I got up to 17 miles a day. I was treading the mill and my body started hurting and I couldn’t figure out why and then I kinda put two and two together. So I chill out a little bit…[Me and Jay] talk on the phone occasionally and things like that, so,” Em told television personality Clinton Sparks. “We don’t discuss music or anything like that, because that would be stupid. [I call him and say,] ‘Jay what’s up? It’s really nice.’ Something [casual]…I want to be remembered as a fashion icon because man, do I know how to f*cking dress.” (Rap-Up)

Em and Jay are both set to perform together at two stadium concerts this summer.

The two titans of the hip-hop world attended Wednesday night’s New York-Detroit game at Comerica Park to announce they’d be playing at the Yankees’ ballpark on Sept. 13. Eleven days earlier, though, Jay-Z will be back in the Motor City to play with Eminem at the latter’s hometown ballpark, Comerica. They made the announcement during appearances on several television broadcasts of Wednesday night’s game. (Associated Press)

They both worked together as consultants for the recent DJ Hero video game release.

Activision today (July 29) provided details of its controller and bundle for the limited-run version of DJ Hero, now called the Renegade Edition. The special version will have a black turntable with special gold-effect sliders and other trim. A special hard case doubles as a stand for the turntable itself, bringing up the controller to standing height. CDs from Eminem and Jay-Z will also come with the bundle and offer some tracks that haven’t been released before. (Electronica)

In a recent interview, Em talked about having a near-death experience due to drug addiction.

“It took me awhile to admit I actually did have a problem,” the musician said. “In the hip-hop world that I live in, it can be mistaken for weakness and the last thing you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you’re weak. But if I didn’t admit I was weak with this certain thing I was going to die.” When asked how close he was to death, the artist responded that he “was certainly a couple of hours away from death,” adding that he “overdosed and almost died.” But he pulled himself back from the brink and re-entered rehab with a more honest, committed attitude: “I had to admit I had a problem. I had to do it for myself,” Eminem said. (CNN)
