Grammy-winning rapper Eminem has stayed true to plans of dropping new music with the release of his first official Marshall Mathers LP 2 single, "Berzerk," this week.
The new Slim Shady anthem premiered Monday (August 26) night via premium radio station Shade 45.
Eminem has shared “Berzerk”, the aptly-named new single off The Marshall Mathers LP 2, his upcoming eighth studio album and the sequel to his 2000 album The Marhsall Mathers LP. Sampling Billy Squier‘s “The Stroke”, the song harkens back to Em’s early material when his tongue was pressed more firmly in his cheek, while also taking more than a few playful notes from Beastie Boys‘ songbook. “Berzerk” was premiered this evening on Eminem’s Sirius/XM radio station Shade 45; listen to the studio version below (via RapRadar). Em resorts to his witty past ways by name-dropping celebrities like the Kardashians and Khloe Kardashian‘s estranged husband Lamar Odom.

In typical Em fashion, there are also some bricks tossed at tabloid figures (Britney Spears’ ex, Kevin Federline, the Kardashians and troubled NBA star Lamar Odom) and props offered to his rap brethren, including Kendrick Lamar, Birdman, Dre’s old N.W.A. buddy MC Ren and Public Enemy. On the hyped-up bridge, Em sings, “Take your shoes off, let your hair down and go berzerk all night long/Grow your beard out, just weird out and go berzerk all night long.” (MTV)
Over the weekend, an announcement for Em’s new LP title and release date surfaced.
Announced in a new Beats by Dre commercial during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, Eminem gives news fans have been waiting for. The Detroit MC officially announces The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will arrive on November 5. The follow-up to 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP will be executive produced by long-time mentor Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin. Expect the album’s first single “Berzerk” to arrive on Tuesday, a snippet is previewed in the commercial. (Miss Info TV)
