Packed with visuals for days, Em meshes pop culture throughout the entire clip.

Eminem releases the music video for “Rap God.” He initially teased the video’s release last week with a 30-second clip that featured the veteran MC doing an impression of Max Headroom. This frantic head bobbing continues throughout the music video which was directed by Rich Lee and shot at the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit. Lee has worked on previous videos with Eminem in the past, including “Lighters” and “Not Afraid.” Eminem also gets wired up to a chair where he takes in a bottomless pit of information. Flashes of Busta Rhymes and Run-D.M.C. pop up on multiple television screens as he references them in the song. Once Eminem wakes up from his dream state he becomes more than a mere mortal, floating in the air and causing chaos while he delivers one of his best lyrical performances to date. (Complex)

Buzz behind Em having the video premiere just in time for Thanksgiving surfaced last week.

After teasing fans with a photo of him and Rihanna, insinuating that a video for ‘The Monster’ was on the way, the Rap God himself releases this 27 second teaser before the full video for ‘Rap God’ drops on November 27th. Rich Lee directed this visual, which pays homage to the popular TV series ‘Max Headroom’ from the 80s. This oughta be good. (HHNM)

Although brief with the details, Em’s manager Paul Rosenberg recently revealed the visual would likely premiere before the holiday.

Rosenberg said the “Rap God” music video is scheduled to come out in about two weeks. And while he won’t reveal much about touring plans or what’s coming next, he said Eminem fans should be excited. The rapper did perform at a handful of European festivals this summer and is booked to play four gigs in New Zealand and Australia in February. But no U.S. dates have been announced. “Marshall’s settled into a good place in his life, carer,” Rosenberg said. “He’s a lot more comfortable being who he is, and I think that’s really going to be beneficial for his fans.” (Detroit Free Press)

In early November, Slim Shady managed to snag an “Artist of the Year” trophy and performed “Rap God” at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards.

Fresh off his “SNL” appearance, Eminem was back on stage at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards on Sunday. With some help from Mr. Porter, the Detroit rapper performed his MMLP2 cut “Rap God” against a stark black-and-white set. The Syndrome-directed performance was shot live at New York City’s Pier 36 and broadcast around the world. He was also named Artist of the Year, beating out fan favorites including Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and One Direction. (Rap-Up)

Despite crowning himself “Rap God” last month, Em downplayed truly seeing himself as one a few weeks ago.

“I think everything switches back and forth from hour to hour, day by day with me. That whole “Rap God” record pretty much from top to bottom is tongue in cheek. So I mean, do I want to feel like that? Maybe sometimes. Again, it goes back to everybody who competitive raps and does this for just purely the sport of it wants to be the best. Again, that’s why Kendrick’s verse worked so well because he only said what every rapper’s already thinking, If you don’t want to be the best, then why are you rapping?” (Rolling Stone)
