Eminem‘s long-awaited return was greenlighted today (April 7) with the premiere of his new music video “We Made You,” playfully targeting Jessica Simpson, Tony Romo, Kim Kardashian and more.
The video featured a wide span of cameos and spoofs.
Slim Shady promised he was up to his old tricks in the video for “We Made You,” his first solo clip since 2005. Debuted exclusively on MTV’s “AMTV” this morning and directed by Joseph Kahn, Em does his best preening Bret Michaels, dangling a rose with a backstage pass on it in front of a line of rock star wannabes that includes impersonators of Sarah Palin (Lisa Ann), Samantha Ronson, Lindsay Lohan and a dentally challenged Amy Winehouse. Em recently spoke on the process of finding “We Made You’s” sound and the production behind his upcoming album Relapse.
“Dre produced most of the album, basically all of the album except for maybe one or two songs,” Em said in an interview. “It was great, we got in there. We were looking for this song for a long time, you know, and finally one day it just hit us. We got the record, went in and made it and Dre just put his touches on it, made everything bigger, had the rhyme and it was, you know, that’s basically it.” (Rap Radar)
Along with the new album, Em has plans to release a follow-up before the end of 2009.
“A lot of people were expecting Relapse to drop last year,” Eminem said in a statement. “I was one of them. Then Dre and I went back in the studio in September for a few days, and that turned into six months. We were on such a roll; we wound up with a ton of new music produced by Dre. Putting out Relapse 2 will let everyone get all of the best stuff.” (Press Release)
He is also reportedly working with his group D12 on their third album.
“Everybody’s in D12 and we’re doing good,” D12’s Bizarre told radio personality Jenny Boom Boom last month. “[A new album] is definitely going to happen. We’re working on it right now, Marshall Mathers is coming out first with Relapse…I’m on Eminem’s album…I’m recording a couple of songs. Big up to Dr. Dre.” (Jenny Boom Boom)
