Speaking with radio station Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club,” Ricky Rozay recently cited his executive ways for piecing together two albums in a twelve month time span.

“That’s how bosses do it. That cake so stacked up we ain’t even gotta do that. Then if we text Def Jam you know they’ll bring that bag,” Ross said in an interview. “It was just something that I wanted to do when I recorded the music. If you go back and listen to my interviews speaking on Mastermind I was saying I felt like I made two albums because it was two different feelings.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

In promotion of the new album, Em recently talked about how Detroit still gets overlooked in comparison to other big cities and regions.

“It feels like we’ve always been an underdog,” Em said in an interview. “Given that mentality, I think it inspired, and inspires people still to this day, to try to — rappers — to try to rap as well as they can.” (Shade 45)

  1. 2014 was terrible year for music sales……it shows ppl want REAL MUSIC!……the old school stuff outsells this new TRASH by a long shot….the MEGASTARS like EM & BEYONCE cannot go GOLD in the first week..or sometimes cannot go GOLD peruod….#IT IS A WRAP!…#GAME OVER!

    • Well Beyonces most recent album only had 2 new songs on it. It wasnt all new material like last time. Whos gonna buy the album when over 98% of it has already been out? lol. And Eminem released a compilation album. The last compilation album that did more than 200k first week was in 2006.
But on another part you gotta look at this… what hip hop megastars dropped this year? None really. T.I. and Ross. TI hasnt done huge numbers since Paper Trail and Ross has never done huge numbers. Most of the top sellers dropped last year. Drake, Wayne, Jay, Kanye, Wale, Cole, and Em(solo album) all put out albums last year so of course hip hop was gonna have some low numbers this year

      • Wale doesn’t really sell like that, the rest of what you said was true. Ross usually goes Gold though consistently. TI has not sold well in years like he used to, that is true. Drake and Wayne and Jay (Kanye too) are the ones who really sell like you said, Cole goes Gold but thats his ceiling. Em usually sells alot, shocked his Compilation album did not do more to be honest, still very good for what it is.

      • “Whos gonna buy the album when over 98% of it has already been out?”

Everyone was saying the exact same thing when 100% of Animal Ambition was already out as singles weeks before it even got released but yet u said no excuses and that if the album was good enough it would’ve sold regardless of how long the songs have been out for. I find it extremely contradictory that ur using this statement to defend Beyonce now.

        • Beyonces re release is asking people to BUY the same exact songs that they bought last year. But if youre gonna take what i said make sure you take more than one quote. I also said the interest in 50s music wasnt the same as it used to be. That cant be said about Beyonce. just go to youtube and look at the views for her most recent video and compare them to any of the videos for 50s singles for animal ambition. the views from that one video equate to almost all the views for his entire album and at one time both of them were two of the biggest artists out which further my point that the interest in 50s music isnt there like it used to be. But really im just addressing the fact that you made it seem like Em and her couldnt sell anymore when within the last year both of them put out OFFICIAL SOLO albums that proved that they could.

          • When have I made it seem that both Em and Beyonce can’t sell anymore? As far as I’m concerned Em is a legend and will always be relevant no matter what…He’s white and the first one to be not only extraordinary but also unique with what he does as well so in that sense he will always be relevant and the day which he isn’t will be the day that no one cares about music in our world.

I was only pointing out the flaws in ur argument about Beyonce not doing well because her stuff has been released already where as it was the same in 50’s case but when we used the same reason to explain why AA flopped u said no excuses. I could care less about Beyonce so I’m not gonna discuss about her relevancy. And yes there is absolutely no denying that 50 Cent has lost a lot of interest compared to 03 but my point was that many of us also believed that AA would’ve sold a lot more than 47k if it wasn’t for the fact that every single had already leaked long before the album even came out. None of us ever expected it to reach the heights of GRODT, The Massacre, Curtis or EVEN BISD but come on now if it weren’t for the leaks AA would’ve definitely sold more than 47k and u know that. Many ppl are expecting SKI to be promoted properly this time round and we are all expecting him to sell at least twice the amount of AA so u can see for urself.

          • Wasn’t really a flaw in his argument. Beyonce’s album was a rerelease. 50’s wasn’t. Her shit dropped like a year ago. 50’s album was fresh. No comparison. Plus, album leaks don’t stop people from buying albums. We all know we can get albums for free. People these days buy albums to support the artist, whether it leaks or not. Em’s last album leaked a whole week before it was released and still did like 800k the 1st week.

          • Like u said the MMLP2 got leaked “one week before” which means nothing. Most albums get leaked one week before release and that’s completely fine because ppl can wait for a week. Albums such as BISD which got leaked 2 months before release and Animal Ambition where every track got leaked week by week 3 months before the album dropped will always have a big decline in sales due to the fact that its a lot more likely that ppl would already have downloaded the whole thing before release and not be bothered with the album. Ppl buy albums for various reasons. Yes some buy them to support the artist and some buy them because the music is good to a lesser extent but it has to be taken into account that there are a lot of ppl out there who are not patient enough to wait for more than a month to buy an album and therefore download the leak before it gets released. Otherwise try to bring up some albums that have been leaked at least a month before its release date and still sell the amount that its expected to. Just take a look at Rebirth by Lil’ Wayne for example during 2010. As much as I hate Wayne and think he’s a horrible artist, he was clearly one of the most popular artists in the music industry during that year. Yet Rebirth could only sell less than 200K (which was extremely low and a big flop for his standards) due to the fact that the album got leaked 2 months before its release.

      • How can you say wale is a top seller but not t.I. when t.I. sales more than wale?Wale album gifted hasn’t even went gold yet troubleMan sold 179k the first week gifted only sold 158 and not even gold yet and it came out in 2013..,t.I. hardly even promoted paperwork and it still sold 80k that’s not including downloads and not to mention he’s a unsigned artist he work worked a deal with Colombia records to destribute with No promotion

  2. What the fuck is sales + streams like how do u figure n sales from streams hell they might as well use YouTube views
