Based on a statement from Mike Harris, the executive views G-Unit is a monumental force in hip-hop.

“We are delighted to join forces with G-Unit and artists who are truly marquee names in hip-hop. G-Unit is a huge force. Lloyd Banks knows how to deliver a lyrical punch and his single has already generated huge anticipation for the album.. Tony Yayo is a totally unique talent, and ‘Pass the Patron’ already has the hip hop world buzzing about his album coming out next year.” (Hip Hop N More)

Banks and Yayo will both be releasing new albums over the next two years via EMI.

G-Unit, formerly part of the Interscope Records family, has joined forces with the music company. The new deal will exclusively distribute and promote 50 Cent‘s label under the EMI umbrella. Lloyd Banks’ third solo effort, H.F.M. 2 (Hunger for More 2), due November 23, will be the first release to reap the benefits of the new partnership. Yayo’s as-yet-untitled sophomore album will follow in early 2011. (Rap-Up)

Following the news, Banks explained why he did not re-sign with Interscope Records after putting out two albums under the powerhouse label.

“I just came out of a situation with Interscope, and being there for years and knowing what it feels like to go through the shakiness in the system when priorities get shuffled,” Banks explained of his decision to avoid a long-term contract. “So, not really excited to jump into a situation where I have a requirement for a few albums.” (MTV)

Last month, Capitol/EMI Vice President of Urban Promotions Craig Davis initially said Banks and 50 Cent joined the team of rap stars on the label which includes Snoop Dogg, Twista and Raekwon.

“Now I’m over at Capitol Records and got a great roster over at Capitol,” Davis said in an interview. “…We just signed a 50 Cent deal over there….50 thought he needed to get out of the Interscope machine, he wanted to do a new change so he got his release from there, we were in negotiations with him and the deal just got signed very recently. And now we got 50 Cent on the label, I think we’ll probably have Lloyd Banks cut in his first cut and then 50’s gonna come out later on.” (Pyramid TV)
