Drake’s new record features The-Dream and offers a more R&B feel than his first single, “Over.”

A new song by Drake featuring The-Dream is leaked. Titled “Shut It Down”, the piece is produced by Noah “40” Shebib and Omen who also co-produced Alicia Keys‘ duet track with Drake, “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready)”. The slow-jam song is reportedly not the final version but has been confirmed to be listed in the Canadian rapper’s debut album “Thank Me Later”. (Ace Show Biz)

Blog sites began posting the unfinished record over the weekend.

Most of y’all probably heard this record the other day when it leaked with the Sample Clearance Only tags allll over it. We withheld posting as it’s impossible to even listen to. That is until the homie Travie got a hold of it and did a helluva job on eliminating all the tags (pretty crazy shit imo). Still not the official CDQ from what I’m being told (although it sure does sound that way) but this will definitely do for now. First single off Thank Me Later incase you didn’t know. Enjoy! Last year, Drake’s producer, Omen, talked about the “Shut It Down” record.

“It took us the whole night to come up with the track, but we finished it and played it for Drake the next day, who already had the song’s concept.” The idea for the track, which Omen describes as a ‘Prince-like, powerful song,’ is about “empowering females. Drake said he had a song idea called ‘Shut It Down’ aimed at club-going females. When they go out and they get dressed up and put their makeup on and get their hair done, they have the capacity to shut the club down,” Omen recalls. (Billboard)

Although he has not yet directly addressed the leak, Drake has been active on his occasionally updated Twitter account.

“One day your life will flash before your eyes…make sure its worth watching,” he wrote over the weekend. “Life is like a confused teacher…first she gives the test and then teaches the lesson.” (Drake’s Twitter)
