According to new reports, Drizzy did not want to take a chance at accidentally hurting concertgoers at his Saturday (October 19) show and played it safe by making a last-minute cancellation.

Drake’s people were vague as to why the rapper pulled the plug at the last minute, saying it was due to “unexpected technical issues.” Now we can translate — they were scared the catwalk that loomed over the stage would fall into the crowd. The catwalk is a big part of the show. Drake walks back and forth on it and there was fear an electrical malfunction could cause a calamity. The concert arena was filled with fans … waiting for an hour, when the plug was pulled and they were sent home. The good news … the problem is being fixed … hopefully in time for tonight’s show in Montreal. Good that fan safety came first. (TMZ)

Weekend reports claimed Drizzy decided to fall back on hitting the concert stage for his “Would You Like A Tour?” set an hour before showtime.

Fans left the Wells Fargo Center early Saturday night after a concert featuring superstar hip hop artist Drake was postponed at the last minute. The concert was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. It wasn’t until around 8:30 p.m. however that the concertgoers were told the performance was canceled. According to Rebecca Goodman, a spokeswoman for the Wells Fargo Center, the concert was postponed due to an “unexpected technical issue.” (NBC Philadelphia)

A statement and new date for the scrapped concert were both immediately released.

“Drake, the Wells Fargo Center, Live Nation, and the entire team behind tonight’s show want to ensure fans will experience an unforgettable live music event and have decided to move the concert to a new date,” she wrote in a released statement. “All tickets and original parking receipts from tonight’s show will be honored at the Wednesday, December 18 date.” (NBC Philadelphia)

The next stop on his star-studded tour will be in Canada tonight.

According to the statement, all tickets and original parking receipts from tonight’s show will be honored at the new concert date. The Philadelphia show was to be the second stop on Drake’s tour, which kicked off Friday night at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh. The tour is scheduled to resume in Montreal on Monday, October 21. (Philly)

Drake’s highly anticipated nationwide run kicked off on Friday in Pittsburgh.

Following sets from PARTYNEXTDOOR, Miguel, and Future, the Toronto rapper opened with “Tuscan Leather.” He performed new material off his No. 1 album Nothing Was the Same for the first time including “Worst Behavior,” “305 to My City,” and “Pound Cake.” At one point, he was elevated on a round platform above the stage so he could see the entire audience and shout them out individually. “I feel like motherf*ckin’ Bon Jovi up here,” joked Drizzy. The crowd went wild when he brought out Pittsburgh’s own Wiz Khalifa for the city’s anthem “Black and Yellow.” “Bro Drake brought me on stage and I turned into a Pixburgh ratchet. Haha. All good,” tweeted the Taylor Gang MC. (Rap-Up)
