Young Money star Drake has already established himself as a platinum-selling artist and now he is testing the fashion waters by releasing a new limited edition line of luxury leather jackets.
According to reports, Drizzy’s new jackets will cost just under $5,000 in the United States.
The Canadian rapper and his crew October’s Very Own have teamed up with Canada Goose to design a high-end jacket. And it’s not your average cold weather gear, this goose down creation will costs a pretty penny. $5000 CDN to be exact, which means it will run you $4,895 in the states. Eek! The jacket features a buffalo leather exterior, silk lined interior, a snorkel hood with removable fox fur trim and 24-karat gold plated hardware. Oooo la la! The perfect find for those with flashy taste and deep pockets. (Huffington Post)
Last month, the rap star designed his own retail jacket.
Still, from the guy who once designed a $500 varsity jacket with Roots and has aspirations of doing a sweater collaboration with Missoni, we suppose we shouldn’t be surprised about how much the jacket costs. So if you have really, really deep pockets and feel an intense and burning need to look like it this winter, we may have found just the piece of outerwear for you. Check out pictures of it below while we check eBay to see if there’s any stuff from The North Face selling for under $100. (Styleite)
Since the buzz developed, Dipset’s Jim Jones has been accused of ripping off Drake’s new line.
The jacket went to stores on December 28 and available for purchase in New York, Tokyo, Osaka and Drake’s hometown. After his OVO jacket was released, they said Jim apparently came up with a similar looking version of the jacket with a very affordable price tag. While Drake’s OVO is priced at $5,000, Jim’s jacket costs only $175. However, some sources say that it’s not a coincidence, rather it was encouraged by the producers of reality show “Love & Hip Hop” so that the tension created over the similar jackets would boost the ratings of the show. Outside of selling clothes, Drake’s new sophomore album is flying off store shelves.
Young Money star Drake’s Take Care received a two-slot boost to No. 5 with 131,000. Heading into his seventh week, Drizzy’s new album rests at 1,175,000 sold records to date. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
