Young Money star Drake's Take Care album may have dominated its competition today (November 23) but it is projected to fall from being the number one LP in the nation next week.
Based on one-day estimates, Drizzy’s sophomore LP will drop to number three next week.
This holiday season, it appears Michael Buble‘s Christmas album is the gift that keeps on giving. Based on one-day sales, the Reprise recording artist’s year-end collection looks to be the big winner coming out of Black Friday, with an estimate of 250-275k. Roadrunner’s Nickelback win the battle of the newcomers, with its seventh studio album, Here and Now, which is looking to be in the 210-225k range. Last week’s chartopper, YM/CM/Universal Republic’s Drake, drops to #3 with an estimated 190-215k, bringing its two-week total to around 860k. (HITS Daily Double)
After a week in stores, Drizzy’s new LP has already reached gold status (over 500,000).
Young Money star Drake’s Take Care debuted on the chart this week at No. 1, in front of Michael Buble’s Christmas which sold 165,500 copies. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Drizzy’s new LP has sold 631,500 records in just a single week. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
The Canadian-bred emcee also hopped on Twitter to give his post-sales reaction.
“I can’t even find the words to express my appreciation…”thank you and I owe you” is all that comes to mind…truly.,” he tweeted, likely referring to his record sales. (Drake’s Twitter)
A few days ago, he revealed putting Take Care‘s follow-up together.
“I never save music, that’s one thing I never dude — because music, to me, is like a sketch book so I’ll do a drawing like Take Care and the whole album cycle is a drawing. That’s how I felt on that day. November 15th, I just turned the page over so now it’s a new day. I started writing last night. I started writing the intro to my next project last night. I found the sample and I started piecing it together the story, where I’m at in my life. Started piecing the drawing. I started that and flipped the page” (Wild 94.1)
