Initially slated to be a remix to “Started From the Botton,” Drake decided to hand over his tune to make it Khaled’s new “No New Friends” anthem.

DJ Khaled gives Hot 97’s Funk Flex the green light to premiere the much anticipated-first single from his forthcoming seventh studio album ‘Suffering From Success’. The single, titled ‘No New Friends’, takes on verses from Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne. What’s the Summer season without turning on the radio and hearing a DJ Khaled record? Good time for the We The Best CEO to drop this record for all artists involved. Lil Wayne’s ‘I Am Not A Human Being 2’ is in stores right now with Ross and Drake set to drop their next projects later in the year. On a side note this was also set to be the official remix to Drake’s ‘Started From The Bottom’ record but Drake decided to give it over to Khaled instead. (Direct Lyrics)

A few hours later, Drizzy delivered his unexpected Beyoncé-inspired tune.

Drake gives us two songs in one day. After dropping “No New Friends” with DJ Khaled, Drizzy speaks to the ladies on “Girls Love Beyoncé.” He opens up about his love life (“I’ve been avoiding commitment”) and puts the call out for a special lady on the vulnerable R&B jam, produced by Noah “40” Shebib. “I need someone that will help me think of someone besides myself/ I need someone I leave through the front door with ’cause we don’t want to hide no more,” sings October’s Very Own. James Fauntleroy pays homage to B by singing the lyrics to Destiny’s Child‘s “Say My Name” on the hook. (Rap-Up)

Last week, Drizzy promised to drop a couple of new records.

In music news, Drake will release more new material next week ahead of the upcoming release of “Nothing Was the Same,” following singles “5AM in Toronto” and “Started From the Bottom.” One track, “No New Friends,” began life as a “Started From the Bottom” remix, and will be released by DJ Khaled with Rick Ross featured. Drake said he’s completing work on the new album but did not give a release date. (Billboard)

Just a few days ago, the Toronto native performed at the annual Jordan Brand Classic event in New York.

Drake still has people talking after his harsh comments about Chris Brown and Rihanna. But he turned the focus back to his music, performing at the 2013 Jordan Brand Classic at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Saturday. The Canadian rapper delivered a 15-minute set, cramming in his hits including “The Motto,” “Headlines,” and “Crew Love,” as the audience sang along. According to his fansite Word on Road, he shouted out Jay-Z and said he would return to the arena this fall on his own tour. (Rap-Up)
