Drake Says He’s Not Chasing Love: “I’m 25 & Single. I’m Not Supposed To Care About Deeper Things Right Now”

Young Money rapper Drake may have a knack for penning love songs and flirting with women over records, however, he recently revealed he has no real reason to find his special somebody just yet.

Drizzy said being only a quarter century old has his mind on things other than ever-lasting romance.

He highlights his song Marvin’s Room, in which he describes his numerous sexual conquests, but not in the bragging way expected from hip hop artists. “That’s me asking: ‘Do I need to get a grip on my life?’,” he says. “I have friends who are in committed relationships and spend all their time focused on one woman and I’m behaving like that! You start questioning your own morals. I’m 25 and single. I’m not supposed to care about deeper things right now, I’m supposed to be wild. But there are nights when you sit back and wonder, ‘D*mn, is this right?'” (The Jewish Chronicle)

Outside of love talk, Drake did emphasize an eagerness to keep his family ties tight.

“That’s one of the things that plagues my mind. My relationship with my family. Am I talking to my mother enough? That kind of thing. Asking myself: ‘Are you changing? Are you a different person?’ Those are my issues now. If I wasn’t famous I don’t think those would be my issues at all. They would be: how am I going to support myself? I wouldn’t be able to get any girl that I wanted. I wouldn’t be travelling the world and I wouldn’t be showered with all this affection.” (The Jewish Chronicle)

Earlier this year, the platinum-selling singer revealed his past love woes.

“I fell for somebody I liked so much. So, so much. Not a celebrity, just a normal girl. She was like, ‘I won’t be in a relationship with you, you’re a rapper and I think more of myself than to go through the (expletive); I can’t read the rumors every day whether they’re true or not.’ That killed me. D*mn, it was a lose/lose, a fight I can’t even fight because she’s already bowing out. He then went on to admit being notorious for sending drunk text messages to ex-lovers. ‘I’m more of a drunk texter than drunk dialer. I write Peach Ciroc [vodka] poems. ‘When that Peach Ciroc comes into my head and starts hitting the blood stream, the words start flowing to exes. Some nights I’ll be in the club and start thinking back – it gets emotional.” (AZ Central)

Last fall, he reflected on past crushes on Young Money labelmate Nicki Minaj and singer Rihanna.

“I don’t know if we were really pretending. I’d marry Nicki. I think Nicki would be one of the only people that would understand me at the end of all of this and be able to love me,” Drake reveals about his Young Money group member. “I guess I thought it was more [with me and RiRi]. That was the first girl with any fame that paid me any mind. You spend days reading about this person in magazines. All of a sudden you have this number-one song and you’re at some birthday party and there she is. And you’re just some naive kid from Toronto staying in some sh–ty-a** hotel who got invited to this party on a whim. That’s just how it happened.” (Elle Magazine)
