Young Money star Drake’s fans are really about that YOLO life and proved it last night (September 19) at one of his Nothing Was The Same pop-up shops in New York City.
According to reports, New York police were called to the scene to simmer down the chaos on Thursday.
With five days left until Drake’s junior effort Nothing Was the Same officially releases, pandemonium leading up to its release continued on Thursday afternoon across North America. The Toronto artist and his October’s Very Own collective opened three pop-up shops in Toronto, New York City, and Los Angeles to give out “Compliments of the Company” promotional apparel. Free to the public, fans lined up late Wednesday night for a good spot in line to pickup their choice of Nothing Was the Same gear including t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and hoodies. As expected, chaos erupted, specifically in NYC’s Lower East Side where a fight broke out at ALIFE as NYPD were called in to control the massive crowd which spawned three blocks. (Miss Info TV)
Impossible to be in three places at once, Drake popped up at one of the Los Angeles locations.
Hours after taping his appearance on The Ellen Show which airs on Friday, Drake made a surprise visit to the L.A. pop-up store located on North Fairfax. He posed for photos and thanked those in attendance, as girls screamed and rushed to catch a flick while exiting. Nothing Was the Same arrives Tuesday. (Miss Info TV)
Buzz about Drizzy and his October’s Very Own team opening pop-up shops surfaced online earlier this week.
Recently, Drake and his OVO squad have been wearing nothing but dope Nothing Was the Same gear, and with the exception of the A$AP Mob collection, it’s probably the only hip-hop merch that we’d rock regularly. Now you have the chance to join Drizzy and his team in being laced properly while blasting NWTS. This Thursday, September 19, for one day only, October’s Very Own is holding a pop-up shop in New York, L.A., and Drake’s hometown Toronto. Details are scant, but we assume “Compliments of the Company” means you won’t need to dig deep into your pockets for NWTS gear… (Complex)
To add to his promotion, the mega rap star is slated to appear on talk show host Ellen DeGeneres‘ broadcast today.
