OVO Sound boss Drake and other high-profile acts might actually hit up next year’s Grammy Awards ceremony courtesy of a confirmed location change. The annual event is slated to go down in New York City.
According to reports, next year’s event will happen January 28, 2018 at historic venue Madison Square Garden.
After months of widespread rumors and coy non-confirmations from both city officials and Recording Academy sources, it’s now official: the Grammy Awards will return to New York City in 2018 for the first time since 2003, after spending more than a decade in Los Angeles. Next year’s main event, which will be its 60th edition, is set to take place on Jan. 28, 2018 at Madison Square Garden, and will once again air on CBS. (Billboard)
Back in February, Drake revealed his frustrations with the Grammy Awards’ politics.
“The only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap category. Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why. I won two awards [this year] but I don’t even want them, because it just feels weird for some reason. … We’ve been conditioned to think that this is the true award for our accomplishments. All I’m saying is, to kids that will be coming up in the future that might not get championed. That’s okay too. You’re dealing with a bunch of people that are just people, at the end of the day.” (DJ Semtex)

During this year’s Grammys, Drake channeled close pal Rihanna‘s frustrations for coming up short at the awards show.
The next day, Drake also referenced the Grammys snubbing her Anti album on his Instagram page.
