Young Money’s Drake may have leaked his “Started From the Bottom” anthem ahead of schedule, however, the platinum-selling rapper unleashed the catchy tune’s new music video on Grammy Awards night.
Drizzy implements real-life story-telling and comedy into the music video’s visuals.
Drake dropped his “Started From the Bottom” video on Sunday night, providing the internet with some entertainment as stars lined the red carpet at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. The video features an all-white dressed Drizzy standing in the back of a white droptop Bentley, during a blizzard. In other scenes, he works retail in a drugstore, flies a plane into his native Toronto and dances around in a club. In other words, standard Drake video fare. (Huffington Post)
Reports claim Drake relied on renowned music video maker Director X to bring his song to life.
In the surprisingly hilarious, Director X and Drake-directed clip, Drizzy and his boys start out as scrubs trying to pick up girls at their convenience store jobs. They eventually grind their way to partying with an endless line of hot girls and lounging on private jets. “Started From The Bottom” is the first single from Drake’s as-yet-untitled third album, expected to be released this year. Prior to Wiz Khalifa, Soulja Boy Tell Em and Machine Gun Kelly remixes, the Canadian-bred emcee dropped his new track last week.
“I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve. I am proud of every part of my past and I’m excited for this song to find a place in your life as well. I didn’t feel I needed any interviews or radio or press to launch this song. It felt right to come back to the site that I started on and release it to the people that started here with me. Judging by this post, the tour that we’ve been planning, the conversations about new songs and album artwork…I think it’s safe to say we’re back together again. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.” (October’s Very Own)
Initial plans were for the anthem to premiere on Grammy Awards night.
Drake is done resting on the bench. His representatives at Universal Music told Billboard that the rapper will be throwing us a new track on the night of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. According to the magazine, the new track is called ‘Started From the Bottom.’ It’s obvious Drake wants to make the Grammys his big moment. The rapper’s sophomore effort, ‘Take Care,’ released in November 2011, is nominated for Best Rap Album. (The Drop)
