Young Money’s Drake recently pushed his Take Care album back to mid-November, however, fans are getting an early teaser off the LP with his new Lil Wayne joint record “The Real Her” leaking online this week.
The slow tempo track made its way across the Internet Friday (October 22).
For anyone disappointed Drake’s sophomore album Take Care won’t actually drop next Tuesday, like it was supposed to (wherefore the Coldplay showdown, Driz?), take heart. By the time Nov. 15 rolls around, all will be leaked anyway. In that vein here’s the first of presumably more, a sad song we wanna slow dance like whoa to, “The Real Her,” featuring Lil Wayne. On the record, Drizzy places emphasis on his love for the opposite sex.
Thematically, Drake’s back to his favourite subject matter on the slow-jam: love, lust and fameball ennui, as he speak-sings about a girls and empty sex over a woozy beat – one that powers down every few seconds like its running out of batteries. There’s no clear-cut pop hook on this one, but the bridge makes a direct connection to a past Drake track, “Houstatlantavegas” from 2009’s So Far Gone mixtape. “Houston girls love the way it goes down, Atlanta girls love the way it goes down, Vegas girls love the way it goes down,” he drawls. Drake’s pal and Young Money boss Lil Wayne makes an appearance near the end to share his own sedated take on how the thrill of groupie-love is gone. “Cause to her I’m just a rapper, and soon she’ll have met another/” Wayne says. “So if tonight’s an accident, tomorrow we’ll recover.” (Canada)
A few days ago, Drake revealed his album is finally a wrap.
“Handing in the album tonight. Surrender.,” he tweeted Wednesday night.
“Scary for you.” (Drake’s Twitter)
The LP will have big shoes to fill as Weezy has already crowned it a remarkable album.
“I actually haven’t got a chance to listen to all of it, but I heard a few songs,” Wayne told MTV News while on the set for Birdman’s “Y.U. Mad” video in Miami. Weezy has never been shy with his “Best Rapper Alive” boasts, but when it comes to Drake and his new album, he plays second fiddle. “I can tell, you know, I don’t know nothing else out there that can touch it, including my stuff. That kid is on another planet,” he said. (MTV)
Drake’s Take Care LP is slated to hit stores Tuesday, November 15th.
