Young Money rapper Drake has the Internet talking with a new photo of himself and Grammy-winning producer Swizz Beatz currently floating online.
The unexpected photo popped up this week, leading many to believe it may mean the two hip-hop artists are working together on new music.
This photo surfaced recently of Swizz Beatz in the lab with Drake, possibly working on some music for the TO native’s upcoming album. Jay-Z and Timbaland were also spotted in the studio with Swizz, although it’s unclear what the stars were working on. Still, these make for some dope flicks nonetheless. (XXL Mag)
Earlier this month, Young Money president Mack Maine updated fans on Drizzy’s forthcoming Nothing Was the Same LP.
“Drake doesn’t have a date yet. He just put out his first street single,” Maine said in an interview. “I actually heard some of it, it’s great. He’s on the same pace as he always is, to drop a classic. He’s like ten songs in, knowing him, that’s only four songs. He’s probably only going to keep six of them. He’s a perfectionist. So be on the lookout for Drake.” (Rap-Up)
Recently, Drake’s longtime friend/producer Noah “40” Shebib briefly discussed the rapper’s third solo effort.
“I don’t know, I don’t know. Every day it changes. That’s tough. That’s a hard thing to say. It depends. Because you know we work, and we have ideas and we have songs but as we create more songs, the shape of the album will change and the progression of it will change. As much as we might be sure that we’re on a path and we’re… We’re sort of working sequentially right now. We feel like we have 1, 2, 3, you know we’re going 4, 5, 6. That’s how we’re moving forward, in order of the actual playlist of the album. But as we make more music that fits in other places, it will change and adjust as far as how many songs, or how far we’re going to go so it’s yet to be discovered. We’re still too early to make a call about whether or not we’re half done or a quarter done or 75 percent done. I mean, it could be any of the above.” (The Hollywood Reporter)
Cash Money Records CEO Birdman talked about the Toronto native’s passion for music-making last week.
“Drake definitely is a fan of the culture and he’s definitely a fan of our culture, and where we come from — Cash Money, me and Wayne and how we built our whole foundation — so he’ll jab at some of the old Cash Money/Young Money flavors and he’s slick with it,” Birdman explained. “And that song is real rap, they ain’t doing that no more. That’s what makes him so different to me, and that’s what makes it so fly how he do it.” (MTV)
Drake and Swizz Beatz previously worked together on his debut album Thank Me Later’s “Fancy” hit.
