Barring any setbacks, Drizzy’s third album will land on stores shelves this September.

“N O T H I N G W A S T H E S A M E S E P T E M B E R 1 7 T H,” Drake tweeted June 22nd. (Drake’s Twitter)

Along with the announcement, Drake unleashed a few new tracks.

Drake pulled a Kanye and released new music in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Of the two songs revealed, “The Motion” is a mid-tempo, electro-tinged anti-love song featuring SBTRKT vocals Sampha. Meanwhile, on “Jodeci Freestyle”, Drizzy teams with J. Cole for a forceful, braggadocios rant directed toward his competition. It’s unclear if either track will appear on Drake’s new album, Nothing Was The Same, but one thing we do know: As also announced this morning, the album will arrive on September 17th. Recently, the rap star talked about how he put together his album’s thumping “Started From The Bottom” anthem.

“I think a lot of people wish their favorite rapper wrote it–as if a song like that should be gangster–but I was the one who wrote it, and everyone has their bottom. As for my whole story, I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve told bits and pieces of it–and I’ll tell more. Maybe because I had friends who grew up in the hood, I could have acted like I had, too, and perpetrated a different lifestyle, and it would be eating away at me because it wouldn’t be the truth. I’m actually here in front of you living the truth. I wake up in the morning and my heart is light, man. It’s not heavy. I don’t have skeletons in the closet on their way out. This is my real age, my real name, my real past, and I’m good with that.” (GQ)

Although it is unknown if he will appear on the project, rap mogul Jay-Z recently locked in some studio time with Drizzy.

And another Jay-Z collaboration is on the horizon. After Raekwon instagrammed a picture of himself and Hove a couple of days ago, another pic of Jay and Drake has now surfaced. The picture was taken by Lenny Santiago, the longtime A&R over at Def Jam and friend of Jay. This caption has been added: “Warning: Please be very afraid of the music we’re working on. OVO x ROCNATION” As we know, Drizzy is working on his new album Nothing Was The Same this summer, it is also rumored that Jay-Z is working on a full-length as well. (Hype Trak)

The Toronto native’s righthand man Noah “40” Shebib revealed his heavy involvement on the follow-up to 2011’s Take Care earlier this year.

“I don’t know, I don’t know. Every day it changes. That’s tough. That’s a hard thing to say. It depends. Because you know we work, and we have ideas and we have songs but as we create more songs, the shape of the album will change and the progression of it will change. As much as we might be sure that we’re on a path and we’re… We’re sort of working sequentially right now. We feel like we have 1, 2, 3, you know we’re going 4, 5, 6. That’s how we’re moving forward, in order of the actual playlist of the album. But as we make more music that fits in other places, it will change and adjust as far as how many songs, or how far we’re going to go so it’s yet to be discovered. We’re still too early to make a call about whether or not we’re half done or a quarter done or 75 percent done. I mean, it could be any of the above.” (The Hollywood Reporter)
