Young Money's Drake is going to make sure he does not leave tomorrow night's MTV Video Music Awards showcase empty-handed and revealed how far he'll go to own an iconic Kaws Moonman this year.

According to Drizzy, he could see himself writing out a check just to snatch one up.

“I might have to tell Macklemore like, ‘Yo, I’ll buy that trophy off of you if he beats me’,” Drizzy told MTV News on Friday night after he finished rehearsals for Sunday night’s 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. “I really want one bad. ‘Started From the Bottom’ was like my first time stepping up as a director, getting a director’s credit with Little X,” he said. “I couldn’t ask for a better moment. I need the trophy for my house, period — even if somebody else gets one I might buy it off them.” (MTV)

Despite his eagerness this year, Drizzy won a Moonman at last summer’s awards show.

Last year, Drake and Director X (formerly Little X) struck gold when they took home the rapper’s first Moonman for Best Hip Hop Video with “HYFR” at the 2012 VMAs. The video found Drake reliving a bar mitzvah, while his YMCMB brethren looked on. It was different, fun and at times comical, a winning formula that X and Drake drew from for “Started.” (MTV)

The Toronto native publicly broke the news of his Sunday (August 25) performance a few days ago.

“Excited to announce I’ll be performing at the 2013 @MTV VMA’s!!! #Brooklyn #OVO #Started #NeedAKawsTrophy.” (Drake’s Twitter)

Earlier this year, footage of Drake receiving a Grammy award and then putting a drink into it surfaced.

Drake’s album Take Care won the 2012 Grammy for Best Rap Album back in February, but the actual golden gramophone award only recently arrived in the “Started From The Bottom” rapper’s hands. So, what did he do when he got it? Poured liquor in it, ala Jay-Z, and passed it around to the entire crew for shots, of course. Drizzy is hoping to have the same luck with his upcoming album, Nothing Was The Same, which he recently announced would drop on September 17. (XXL Mag)
