Drake Caught Covering Up Common Subliminal Response

Young Money star Drake reportedly hit rap veteran Common with a subliminal diss over the weekend and then tried to cover it up based on a screen shot of his Twitter page.

In Drizzy’s now-deleted tweet, he taunted Common’s album-selling ability.

Since Drake is “not a p*ssy” he figured he’d go ahead and respond, kinda. Just in case you can’t read it, Drake subtweeted Common by saying “Platinum. Now THAT’s Sweet!” Of course he’s referring the song name and bragging on how many records he’s sold in comparison to Common. Fair right? But then for some reason, Drake elected to take down the tweet. But that didn’t stop the rest of twitter from weighing in on this supposed “beef” between two of the most non-threatening rappers the world has ever seen. (Loop 21)

Last week, Common confirmed speculation suggesting his new “Sweet” record is actually targeted toward artists like Drake.

“Hey, he opened his mouth and said some things. So if he wants it, that’s what he wants, all that subliminal, you can do that too. But you might want to say that now,” he said. “I mean, the verse is about me, but when you hear some stuff on the chorus, it’s like you can’t help but think about dude, and that’s what he felt. So at the end of the day, he fit in that category. He already embraced it, so wear it.” (“Sway in the Morning”)

Prior to the confirmation, Drizzy gave his reaction to Common’s “Sweet” record during a Las Vegas show.

In a recent performance in Las Vegas, Drake reportedly increased tensions by addressing Common on stage. “I might sing, but I ain’t no b*tch.” said the Toronto rapper. “If Common got something to say, say it to my face.” Will Drizzy have to catch a body like that? Common’s new solo album is projected to sell up to 65,000 copies in its opening week.

Windy City hip-hop icon Common’s Think Common/Warner Bros. bow, The Dreamer/The Believer, looks headed for first-week sales of between 55-65k. His last album, 2008’s Universal Mind Control, on G.O.O.D./Geffen, debuted with 82k. (HITS Daily Double)
