Grammy-nominated rapper Drake has officially begun working on his upcoming Thank Me Later follow-up.
Drake said the sophomore project has gone into motion.
“Started my new album last night too…ok I’m done…miss me video tmrw at 9am…tipsy…maybe? naaaaaaah….maybe tho.,” he wrote. (Drake’s Twitter)
Last month, Drake said he may name his next album Moments.
Drake’s debut album hasn’t even hit stores yet, but he’s already thinking of a second album title. Moments is the name he’s been tossing around for his sophomore effort, reports the Los Angeles Times. While nothing has been set in stone, he explained the reasoning behind the title. “Hip-hop is all about moments,” said the 23-year-old rapper. “You look at people who were hot three or four years ago who are sitting around reminiscing. It’s fickle. It’s a game of moments. I’m the moment right now.” (Rap-Up)
He has also said Kanye West‘s upcoming Good A** Job will motivate his next LP.
“I’m very much looking forward to the Kanye West album because I need to be scared and inspired for my second joint,” Drake to radio personality Funkmaster Flex. “That [‘Power’] record just had to happen. Kanye’s a genius and I’m super excited for the rest of the album because I’ve heard some things that people haven’t heard.” (“Sucker Free”)
Drake’s debut album has continued its run on the sales charts since last month.
Young Money rapper Drake’s Thank Me Later also stayed put at No. 2 with 104,900. With three weeks in the books, the Canadian-based emcee’s debut has moved 708,900 units. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
