Young Money's Drake got to sit in the driver's seat on the University of Kentucky basketball floor as he took part in the Annual Charity Game Saturday (September 15) night.

During the festivities, Drake and head coach John Calipari awarded over $300,000 to charities.

On a day in which UK basketball fans had a chance to see some of their favorite former Wildcats play at Rupp Arena again, the most memorable moment likely came at halftime. That was when UK head coach John Calipari, the former Wildcats playing and coaching in the alumni game and recording artist Drake presented $325,000 to six charities. The largest check, for $110,000, went to recovery efforts for West Liberty, Ky., which was devastated by tornados last Spring. A check for $60,000 was presented to the service dog charity 4 Paws For Ability. (KY Forward)

Drizzy also used the opportunity to thank Coach C and the Wildcats fans for holding him down throughout the years.

Opposite of Wall was hip-hop mogul Drake, a friend of Calipari’s who has become a fixture at UK events since Calipari asked him to be a guest coach at his first Big Blue Madness in 2009. After the game, hugging Cousins and Davis on the Rupp Arena floor, Drake credited Calipari and Kentucky with motivating him to go back to school and get his high school degree. “Kentucky has given me a real home,” said Drake, who served as the unofficial “Y” during one of the timeouts. “I actually dropped out of high school, which I don’t if a lot of people know that, but I dropped out of high school. I never really got like a great school experience. When Coach Cal asked me to come here for the first Midnight Madness, it just really gave me a sense of school, a sense of love, a sense of belonging to something. That’s why I feel like I belong in the UK family and that’s why I’m graduating high school this month. I’m definitely inspired by UK.” (Coach Cal)

Handfuls of renowned former players took part in Saturday night’s activities.

A number of former Kentucky Wildcats showed off their talents today at the inaugural UK Alumni Charity Basketball game. Hornets rookies Anthony Davis and Darius Miller played in the game, although they were on separate teams for a change. Davis was on the white team with Demarcus Cousins, Antoine Walker, Tony Delk and other former Wildcats. While Miller was on the blue squad with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and the “Calipari All-Stars”(a group of campers from Calipari’s Fantasy experience camp a few days prior). Both teams had special head coaches for this game, rapper Drake was named coach of the white team and John Wall was coaching the blue. As expected the white squad blew the other team away with a 103-43 victory. Anthony Davis dropped 40 points alone alongside Demarcus Cosuins 42. (Swarm & Sting)

Drake received his very own Wildcats championship ring from their NCAA Finals win earlier this summer.

The University of Kentucky basketball program apparently bestowed rapping legend Drake with a national championship ring. This may or may not be related to the artist performing after the “Big Blue Madness” ceremony held in 2009 when John Calipari was named head coach of the team. There’s probably little point in asking why, but it doesn’t take a genius to conclude that this has to be one of the dumbest gestures in recent memory. Drake? Really? Perhaps, perhaps, Tupac or Biggie if they were still with us, neither of which appeared on “Degrassi: The Next Generation” as a child. (The Big Lead)
