If things work out his way, the “Doc” will primarily dedicate his time to West Coast rap newcomers Kendrick Lamar and Slim the Mobster.

“I am never going to give music up,” he said. “Music is like air to me, [music] is like oxygen, so I am always doing that. As soon as I get back to Los Angeles, I am back in the studio doing my thing. I have a couple of new artists that I am excited about, Kendrick Lamar and Slim The Mobster. These are the next two artists, and these are probably my final two artists that I am going to be working with at least for the next couple of years. I am going to devote all my attention to them and make sure their sh*t comes out the way it should be. I am just having fun with life right now!” (Global Grind)

While Slim’s buzz continues to grow, West Coast rapper Blu recently talked to SOHH about looking out for the latest artists currently in the spotlight, such as Kendrick Lamar, in 2011.

“I definitely stay in touch with some of the [XXL ’09] Freshmen class,” Blu told SOHH. “I seen Asher [Roth] the other day, we should be hitting the studio pretty soon. There’s been songs that circulated which I’ve done with Asher and Charles Hamilton. I always salute Currensy when I see him out and about. I feel that’s a really dope brother right there. Same with Kid Cudi, it’s just dope running into these heads. As far as the new Freshmen class, I definitely think Kendrick Lamar will be up there. I think Pac Division, they’ve been out way longer but Pac Division should be up there. U-N-I and Dom Kennedy, I know it’s all West Coast. I definitely think those heads are bringing it right now.” (SOHH)

Game recently discussed his experience working alongside Dre for The R.E.D. Album and the upcoming Detox LP.

“Dr. Dre. came in and said, ‘This is The R.E.D. Album? Cool. But you need this, this, and this and that,’?” Game says of the shift in his focus. “I was like, ‘Well, where am I gonna get this, this, this and that?’ He was like, ‘We here, ain’t we?’ … We started working on The R.E.D. Album, and some of the songs we did for The R.E.D. Album he snatched for Detox. Then we worked on some more, and he gave me more for R.E.D. At that time, I was probably the happiest I was in my career. Back working with Dre. Working really closely. Our relationship has always been real easygoing, man. Especially when it comes to the music.” (XXL Mag)

Last August, New York rap veteran Nas said he helped contribute to Dre’s long-awaited solo LP.

“Dre is the king of the gangster music,” Nas told “106 & Park” host Rocsi. “You know what I mean? He’s like — I worked with him back in the days for The Firm album and I just did something for his new album, Detox, so I’ll wait for it. [Do I have the inside info?] No, don’t put that on me. [laughs] I don’t have the inside…We got a nice record, we got a nice record. That’s it.” (“106 & Park”)
