According to Doc, the new movie will dispel a past misconception of N.W.A.

“That was the main word that we used when we went into this,” Dre said referring to the flick inspiring viewers. “We wanted to show the ultimate brotherhood, betrayal, it has everything. One of the big things was how we feel about women, because there’s a big misconception. How much we respect our women, and whatnot. We want to show the heart of the guys, and everything we went through during the creation of the record, and everything we went through before the demise of the group.” (Big Boy TV)

Recently, hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper revealed he tried out to play Dre in the upcoming flick.

“I actually did try out for the N.W.A. movie,” Chance revealed in an interview. “I read for Dre. But it wasn’t in God’s plan.” (Interview Magazine)

The flick’s must-see trailer premiered online last month during the televised Grammy Awards.

In the film’s first full-length spot, we’re first treated to an introduction featuring Ice Cube and hip-hop’s first billionaire Dr. Dre, rolling around Compton as they reminisce on their formative years there and the talent (like The Game and Kendrick Lamar) that has come up in the years since. From there, we’re thrown back into the gritty mid-80s, amidst the drugs and violence that helped bring Ice Cube, Dre, Eazy E, MC Ren, and DJ Yella together. (The Verge)

December reports claimed ex-N.W.A. member Ice Cube revealed footage from the upcoming flick during an overseas concert.

Australian N.W.A. fans were treated to a recent preview of the upcoming biopic, Straight Outta Compton, during a recent Ice Cube concert. The characters of Eazy-E (Jason Mitchell), Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins) and Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr., Cube’s actual son) all show up during the trailer which Cube played gleefully. (Miss Info TV)
