Currently traveling worldwide to promote his Beats By Dre headphones line, the Doc said he would continue work on Detox upon returning to the studio.

“Well, right now I’m just taking a small break to come out and do some promotion with Beats but actually I’m getting back on it when I get home. It has to feel good,” Dre said in an interview when asked about taking a break from music. (Time Out)

Interscope Records CEO Jimmy Iovine also weighed in saying Detox is still a top priority.

“Well, you know, the thing is with Dre – we were talking about it today and [hesitates], he’s not gonna put it out until it’s right for the fans. It’s fan-driven. He’s a real perfectionist,” Iovine added. “I want to make something clear. When Dre said ‘I’m taking a break’, he meant one week. He’s here one week. That’s the break. He goes back to the studio on Monday.” (Time Out)

In November, Dre revealed outside of his Aftermath priorities Kendrick Lamar and Slim the Mobster, he had no other immediate music obligations.

“These are the next two artists I’m working on, Slim the Mobster and Kendrick Lamar. I think that’s when I’m gonna just wrap it up for a minute because I’ve been working on music for 27 years now and the longest I’ve ever been out of the studio in 27 years has been two weeks,” Dr. Dre said in an interview. “So yeah I feel like I’m gonna take a little bit of a break. I’m never gonna stop music, it’s like air to me. So I’mma take a little bit of a break. Enjoy some time with the family til I get that itch to get back in.” (FADER TV)

Following the Doc’s remarks, Slim the Mobster spoke out and supported his boss’ plans to kick back.

“For the past time that I’ve been around, I know for a fact that [Dre] hasn’t been out the studio long. Let him have a break,” Slim said in an interview. “He gave us Eminem and 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Game, he gave us so many different things in his time. There are some rappers who haven’t gave us nothing. So, let the man have fun now.” (MTV)
