Young Money’s Nicki Minaj really did have some things to get off her chest when she singled out MTV Video Music Awards celebrity host Miley Cyrus last Sunday (August 30).
According to reports, Nicki and Miley did not secretly plot out or stage their war of words.
“No one knew that Nicki was going to go off on Miley beforehand,” the insider tells Us. “Nothing was preplanned about that!” … “Nicki was livid with Miley and decided to air her feelings onstage,” the insider told Us on Monday. “The anger was very real.” (Us Weekly)
Minaj went at Miley’s head during her acceptance speech for the “Best Hip Hop Video” category.
“And now back to this b*tch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?!,” Nicki shouted before Miley responded with, “Hey, we’re all in this industry, we all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate sh*t. Last week, Cyrus scolded Nicki for ranting about the MTV VMAs nominees selection process favoring white musicians.
“People forget that the choices that they make and how they treat people in life affect you in a really big way. If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it. And it’s not anger like, “Guys, I’m frustrated about some things that are a bigger issue.” You made it about you. Cyrus also suggested the MTV VMAs did not use race as a determining factor in its nominees selection.
